Elanie & Alex’s Wedding – Claremont Showgrounds

Posted 11 April 2020

Claremont Showgrounds Wilkinson Gallery Wedding

Where was your ceremony and reception?

Both were at Wilkinson Gallery inside the Claremont Showgrounds.

How many guests did you have?

120

How many bridal boutiques did you go to before you said ‘yes to the dress”?

About 20.
I loved trying on dresses, I would have tried on close to 100 dresses.  I wanted to buy so many! Most of the boutiques had lovely staff who really listened to what I liked and were very helpful.

Did you have bomboniere?

Yes. My aunty made bars of her amazing nougat for everyone.  The nougat bars were  individually wrapped and  placed into white  gift bags with personalised hand written name tags.

What were the bridal songs? Which song for what.

First dance song – Michael Bublé Everything
Signing the marriage certificate song – At Last

Did you have a cake? If yes what type. If no why not?

Yes. It was a three tiered ‘naked’ chocolate cake with a salted caramel drip. The cake was amazing.

What is your favourite memory of your wedding day?

Too many to choose from. I think the feeling of overwhelming happiness was amazing. I could barely eat or drink all day as I was so excited.

Tell us about your wedding planning experience.

Luckily my husband is super organised and loves planning, he did most of it. We planned it all in just 6 months from starting to wedding day, so it went so fast.

Tell us all bout your wedding flowers, ceremony and reception styling etc.

I loved our flowers. Our local florist ended up being our supplier which makes us really happy about our choice. Couldn’t recommend Green Bunch enough.  I saw a picture on their Instagram account which had a beautiful warm colour pallet and I gave them creative licence.

Tell us about your wedding day? From where you stayed the night before and who with, the vibe getting ready on the day to arriving to the ceremony etc.

We had our wedding photos first, followed by the ceremony that went straight into the reception as we didn’t want the break between where we would be missing out on the party. We are so happy we did this.
The night before I stayed at the Westin, with my friends coming over to play some board games.
The morning of, I went to my hairdressers and she was so calming and it just felt like a normal visit to see her which helped relax me. Gabby from Gabrielle Nicole Hair is a godsend.
My mum came to help me get ready.

What are your tips for other Perth brides to be?

Try and be relaxed as you can about things. My husband and I had ‘move on’ cards that we could ‘play’ when we felt the other was getting too annoyed or hung up on a specific decision. It meant we could come back to that item later on when we were both calmer and it helped us not get too stressed in making decisions.
